Sparks Dock: Closed
| President's Update 07-22-2008 |
The Dog Days of Summer have been nothing less than great fun at the Sparks Marina. Welcome to our many new members, it’s wonderful to see so many new dogs and handlers getting themselves addicted to Dog Diving. Sounds like a number of H3D members are planning on heading over to the Sonoma County Fair. The Sparks Marina practice dock will be closed on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3 so that we can make the trek to Santa Rosa. With August so close on the horizon, it’s time to start looking ahead to the Nevada State Fair. Wendy K. from Splash Dogs is putting together our schedule for the event. Looks like we’ll have Wednesday and Thursday evening waves (the Fair does not open until 5 pm on Thursday this year) and then full days of competition on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This means plenty of opportunity to show the folks that High Desert Dive Dogging is a terrific way to spend quality time with the family dog – it also means will need to have plenty of volunteer help. In order to make this event successful for everyone, we’ll need your help. Working an event like this is as much fun as participating in it and is a great chance for various club members (especially some of our new members) to get better acquainted. Volunteer opportunities include help with set-up (starting on the Monday of the event), registration, concessions, poolside wrangling (one for the steps and one for the exit ramps during all waves and practice – if possible) and tear down after the finals on Sunday. Please start looking ahead at the week of August 18 – 24 and if you can make time and have a preference for how you would like to help, contact Lisa Kus at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so we can start putting a schedule together. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing you all on the docks -Bob |
